Blimp-tastic Maps

Last week, I released a three.js blimp map game – The Hunt for Red Octangles. In response, over the weekend, Map Channels sent me links to two fascinating projects he recently stumbled upon.

mrdoob's Three.js Tokyo City Generator

This vibe-coded three.js pan across a generated night-time cityscape was created using Gemini Canvas. If you want to improve the scene (or change the “location” to another city), you can view mrdoob’s original prompts that led to this final animated fly-through here.
FlightForge by TC Poole is a fun, browser-based tool that turns worldbuilding into an interactive experience. Rather than simply staring at a flat JPEG, users can upload their own regional or world maps and “pilot” a tiny airship across the terrain.

One of the tool’s strength is the atmospheric settings. Users can toggle dynamic weather effects -ranging from snowstorms to lightning – and utilize a “Fog of War” feature to reveal the landscape as you explore.
